Music Scene NZ
Hey Paul, Excellent site! Actually, your story is quite inspirational. My husband is in IT, and we want to come to NZ (Wellington area) by the end of this year, to jobsearch. However, we both have several years experience in the music industry, and I have some experience as a freelance music journalist. Eventually, we'd love to start a music- related business in NZ. Either a rehearsal studio, or band promotion, record label, something along those lines. I'd also love to get into music journalism in NZ. I like the way you've promoted some of NZ's up and coming bands on this site. I regularly read Punkas.com, as I'm a huge fan of punk/alternative music, and I look forward to checking out the local scene when we get to NZ. Hey, any advice you could offer us, would be greatly appreciated! All the best, Celine. |

Hi Celine, the music scene is buzzing here at the moment and we have started a rehearsal studio here in tauranga. It was a struggle though and as a result we had to sell it. The good news is that it is still open and is doing well. I am promoting bands here at Brewers which is the main venue in Tauranga and I'm writing for RIP IT UP magazine. Apparently Wellington could do with a rehearsal studio but be careful as things take a lot longer to get going here. I'd look at getting into promoting first and see where that takes you as you will get paid (not much though) and will meet lots of bands and label owners. I'm hopefully going to be managing a band and working for a label here next year so keep in touch. Oh yeah the book explains a lot about the music scene and setting up the rehearsal studio. Paul |

Hi Paul, Yes, we've ordered the book from Amazon, looking forward to reading it! Cheers for the advice, will definitely look at getting into promotion, and familiarize ourselves with the scene in Wellington. Will definitely keep in touch! Cheers again, Celine. |
