I was just wondering what you all felt about how much of a role and what kind of a role Roddenberry was trying to give women on the Original Series.

According to Alan Asherman's Comendium even women rejected Majel Barrett as a first officer during an initial 1964 screening of "The Cage."

But then in 1969, "Turnabout: Intruder," written by Roddenberry, basically said that women couldn't command starships.

What does everyone think of this?
