Redruth 1 Mousehole 0 Redruth started off their campaign at Clijah Croft with a tense 1-0 victory over Mousehole. The wind spoilt the game. Redruth started the game playing against the wind and whilst the conditions were difficult, they quickly settled into their passing game. Redruth's front two of Jason Smith and Tony Barber combined well and were well supported, particularly by Ryan Baber from midfield. Whilst they battled against the wind in the first half, Redruth defended resolutely. The back four of Si Barrand, Darren Lewarne, Daniel Perkins and Adam Townsend, dealt with the Mousehole attacks and Redruth continued to cause problems in the opponents half. Jason Smith got the decisive goal midway through the half, as he latched onto Adam Williams' misdirected shot and guided the ball into the corner of the net. In the second half, with the wind behind them, Redruth remained in control. Mousehole rarely threatened, but equally the Reds failed to capitalise further, with Smith, Ryan Baber and Callum Salmon all going close. Redruth's man of the match was, once again, the exceptional Ryan Baber. |
