League Merger

Hi sorry if this has been spoken about before but i was wondering what was happening with the falmouth-helston and mining leagues at the end of the season?
Wasn't there talk of their being a merger or something like that? Is that still happening or does anyone have any other info?

Re: League Merger

I heard that Mining League wanted to open up talks with Falmouth Helston at the start of this season but Falmouth Helston said they weren't ready? (I could be wrong!)
It's about time the leagues merged - we need to move football in cornwall into the 21st century. It would fall in line with the Western Penisula League next season and improve standards at grass roots level.
I know the County FA can't tell each league what to do as every league are a constituted body in their own right - but come on this makes sense to start working together for the best interests of Football in the west of the county - lets lead by example.

Does anyone agree with me? If any other Mining League clubs agree we could take some proposals to the next mining league committee meeting?

Re: League Merger

The way I understand it, is that the leagues will be forced to merge very soon by the FA under the pyramid league structure. Nowhere else in the country do we have this antiquated system of 'senior' and 'junior' - there are clearly-defined perameters.

The fact that the Mining League and Falmouth-Helston league cannot sit down and agree to merge is disappointing. I think we need to put aside our differences, and particularly the ingrained notion that one league is better than the other, and agree a structure to move forward into the 21st century. This includes the use of email for submission of player registrations, transfers, scores and match forms, internet website for the new league etc etc.
