upchucking lovebird!

Miko, I'm so glad to have found your website. I live on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I own a peachfaced lovebird that I have had for 4 years. Since Nov. 2005 he has started to regurgitate his food all over his cage. He specifically upchucks on his foot! I'm his "main squeeze". He tries to upchuck on me too. His cage is a filthy mess each day. I have to clean up the "goop" every day. This is starting to gross me out. I adore this bird tremendously. I brought him with me from Alaska on my return trip back home. There was no way I was going to leave him behind. He never had this habit in Alaska. Why do you think he just started doing this since November? Will it ever quit? Any information will be greatly appreciate. He is very tame, he flys to me when I call him.

Thank you for your response

Re: upchucking lovebird!

Lani,
Well, maybe your male lovebird finally became mature so now it starts to upchuck on you. I think it finally took you as a mate. I don't know how to make the bird stop. Just note that will continue to do that.

Re: upchucking lovebird!

My bird has been doing the same but finally relaized that we were not giving enough attention. I now take mine to work every day and let him out when ever we are home, change his toys every other week.He has been yuck free for 3 weeks. After owning 2 slightly larger parrots, these little guys require much more attention as a one on one. A mate would help but if you are like me I don't want to lose his friend-ship.
Good luck to you,

Sandy
