leg band for love birds
I need to know when and how to put leg bands on properly. I don't want to hurt my babies. I know they are leaving but while in my care they are my babies. Thank you very much! |

Well, I don't really band my lovebirds. However I know of someone that does. He bands his lovebirds at about 3 weeks. Lovebirds have 4 toes. 2 in the front and 2 back. If your band is just a barrel type, then stick the 2 front toes through the band, then move the band upward toward the ankle, passing the back 2 toes. This can only be done when the bird is still a baby...large enough to keep the band on, but still small enough to get the band on. So basically about 3 weeks. |
