depressed?

I just got my lovebird about 3 days ago. The first two days he was fine chirping and coming out of his cage. But since yesterday I noticed he doesn't come out much and he seems to sleep a lot. Is he depressed about the different surroundings? Also at the pet store he had bonded with another lovey, is he pining for it? Am I just being paranoid? His droppings are dark green, is that bad?

Re: depressed?

Hi, my name is Luciene and I got my love bird last friday and he started acting just like yours, he was fine in the begining and today he was more and more sleepy and he died this afternoon, I cried so much. Now I'm thinking... Was that because he was by himself, because he had 100% of my attention, and was always outside of the cage. Please answer me I want to know if your love bird it's fine now.

Re: depressed?

Did you place a mirror inside the cage. Sometimes the lovebird will start talking to the mirror thinking that it is another lovebird.

I haven't heard of a single lovebird getting depressed. In fact, I heard that they don't have to be in pairs...you could just get 1 lovebird only.

Could it be sick? When they are sick, they get puffed up and stay in a corner of the cage. Their droppings could be watery. Is it in a drafty place? Lovebirds are hearty little buggers, but if they catch a wind draft, then it could get sick...

Sorry couldn't be more of help.
