i have trained with jerry for some time. i have read the posts, and the opinions. i have trained with paul at jerry's and traveled to his house. i have also trained with will and a number of others who have posted here. jerry has quite a martial arts pedigree without ted although he would not and will not exclude him or his teachings or his memory. jerry has so often stressed to give proper credit to the people you learned from and to make it a point to acknowledge who originated what and why it is so important. so exact and so prevalent is this element that i can tell you who ted trained with ,why he favored a certain move or a particular technique for a certain situation and so on, i have fought in san diego at the grand nationals, i have traveled to other schools including dan inosanto's, ihave attended seminars put on by the sayoc's, the successor to the giron system anthony somera who remembers ted, and i fit right in with the training i recieved from jerry it's IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCOUNT HIM ! |

I find it quite puzzeling that in your first sentence you say you trained with Jerry for some time, but yet in Jerry's response to you he refers to you as "whoever you are"? With respects, your support is something to be admired on Jerry's behalf even if he doesn't know who you are.... In any case, I am not questioning Jerry's martial art pedigree. That is not of concern to me. Our family has supported Jerry since my brother's passing and I have even entrusted him with Ted's curriculum to help him out with his students. But in every organization, corporation, schools, universities, etc. there are certain rules, regulations, bi-laws and policies set by their founders for all to follow. The family is here to preserve what Ted left and to support everyone that follows it as it was written. In closing, our family will continue to support Ted's followers as long as they provide legitimate certification of proof that can be verified from Guro's approved by the family. And, as long as their certificates was attained as written by my brother. Jerry was provided with my same phone number that I have had for the past 15 years. Open lines of communication was always available to him... Good luck on your endeavors and continued studies. |

Beverly, Personal gain? Are you kidding? I thought you said you knew Jerry! Ted did... You mentioned humble, but humility is not a quality I feel you are displaying here. The only person that would appear to be concerned about personal gain is you. Your brother did a very good job educating all who spent time with him. His main focus never appeared to be monetary so why would you even bring that up? Why would you want to discount his trust and belief in these people he felt were worthy of his efforts? Many of which have trained with him for many, many years. These people are proud of what they have learned through hard work,"BLOOD" and sweat. If disrespect is being handed out here, it's coming from you! Granted you may carry the Lucaylucay name, but respect is earned not inherited. I have trained under Sifu Jerry Meyers for 30+ years and he has never disrespected Ted. Why would he start now? This needs to stop. It is an embarrassment to an art I truly love. You can't take what was earned because of some unfounded emotional, misunderstanding. We all loved Ted not just you. You are claiming leadership and acting emotionally as if being personally attacked. You say you are the "new leader" but I'm not sure you are displaying qualities of someone I would choose to follow at this point. You started this and should end it respectfully and earn the respect of all who are following this. We are the students of Kali/Lucaylucay/JKD under Sifu Jerry Meyers and you can't change that. My lineage remains. We don't just bang sticks! We have gloves too! What are you trying to accomplish "Maestra"??? You have offended me. NO DISRESPECT< BUT VERY DISAPPOINTED, Lonnie Macias |

First of all Lonnie (level 2 (?) and a 30 year student of Jerry??.... I don't have to justify who I am or what I do, to you or anybody else. I don't need your respect nor do I care to have it. I stand by what I have already stated on this forum for the past days. Whether anyone of you like it or not...that's the way it is. I have a responsibility to uphold and I will continue to follow it through... Your lineage is under Jerry, not the Lucaylucay Family. You say "No Dis-respect" but that's all I read in your posting... Good luck whatever you do with your future trainings. |

On the street rank has no value. In addition Jerry does not "just" give away rank. It's not based on just knowledge of a curriculum but by many realms to include reflex/reaction, self-control and participation (unfortunately participation being my downfall as time has not always been available to me do to my other obligations-not my lack of skill). But thank you for pointing out the level of my rank. If a president dies does his sister take his place? Is it not the vice presidents responsibility to then take his place? In this case Leonard Trigg and Greg Allen (who's signature appears on my Lucaylucay/Allen certificate) would be the next in line as far as highest-ranking student/teacher wouldn't they? Your brother gave them that position didn't he? Well, you have already stated you don't care what anyone thinks (fine example of humility, integrity, and leadership), So are you saying you are the "Highest Ranking" student/teacher under Ted? Bruce JKD? Are you? Seems to me, you are the one looking for validation and the one your brother warned you about. One would think, you would want to earn the respect of “Ted’s followers” (not yours) and not just demand it. Leave it as it has always been, as taught by your brother. "If it ain't broke" what are You "MAESTRA”??? trying to fix? I don't need your approval; my gloves have served me well. Just ask my peers. I have nothing to prove and I'm “still” offended by your personal attack on my teacher and anyone who comes to his defense. ------ You should be honored that someone such as Jerry has dedicated most of his life promoting Lucaylucay ------ And I have no doubt, that any action you may try to impose, will change his dedication. It would be nice to see you and him working together toward the positive goal of continuing the art "we all love". |

It saddens me to read all these negatives post against each other. where in turn we are all students of Kali. I just want to set the record straight on the most respectable way. Jerry, I don't know you, and we have never met. But judging on the response of your fellow students, you must be a great practioner of the arts and a phenomenal teacher. So many have come to your side and aide you on this issue. That in itself shows character. And by you continuing the lucaylucay system in your ciriculum is very admirable. With that being said, i think its about time to straighten out this misunderstanding. Maestra isn't here to start any drama or disvalue anyone's rank. It's not like she was surfing the web trying to take over the legacy one website at a time. To tell you the truth, she was at first vey happy to see that an old acquaintance of her and her brother has started a forum. What really got to her was that letter you posted on your website about family has no business continuing the teachings of the lucaylucay system. As you can imagine, Maestra was very hurt and offended by that article. She may have said some thing to disrespect you and your fellow students during the heat of the moment, but i can assure you it was only in defense of what she read. Maestra Beverly and Guro Ted we raised in the same house and therefore shared the same family values. We all know that the path that this is leading towards is the wrong one. And it needs to stop now. It is true that Guro Ted started a Phenomenal movement and by no means is Beverly trying to overshadow that. She simply is overseeing the direction of the movement. There will be many students in the near future learning the lucaylucay system. I believe both parties can agree on that. With that being said, i see no harm in you and your fellow students continuing the pratice of the art. All I ask is that you show the same respect to Maestra and other family memebers of the lucaylucay family as Ted showed to all practioners of the martial arts. I believe the family also earned the right to carry on the spirit that Ted has left for them as well. Like i said in the beginning, i do not know who you are but i respect your curriculum. If we meet in the future, i would hope to have earned your respect by following the same curriculum, just from a different sibling of Lucaylucay. As your students come by to defend their teacher, I stand by mine to do the same. I'd rather greet with handshakes, than sticks and gloves drawn. If lines will be crossed in a negative reaction, then so be it. I just hope both parties can choose the right path. |

Respect is EARNED! Many here have tolerated Beverly because she is Teddy's sister. Not because we respected her as a leader or a Martial Artist. How many Instructors (including Leonard Triggs and Greg Allen) do you think Beverly insulted or alienated by claiming she is a Maestra and that she Outranks everyone in Temujin? Do you really think her Skill levels are equal to or better than Guro Greg or Leonard? Right now, she is living in her Father/Brother's shadow. If she had to stand on her own two feet, she wouldnt last that long. To bad Tanya isnt around anymore, she was a REAL Fighter and Leader. |
