Hi Malc,
Sorry we have only just seen you posting
Paul Gray who coordinates the Rally activities is keen to respond to your question and writes as follows

"I would urge anyone with an interest in NGs to attend the National Rally for the whole weekend (recommended!) or just for one day - it really is a great opportunity for like-minded people to discuss their cars/projects and to socialise at the same time.

In response to your question on the nominal £10/day (£25/weekend) charge, it might be worth a few words to explain why we have to make a charge and why it is such good value.

Firstly, there is the use of a splendid rally field and use of loos.
In addition to that, the club hires a large marquee that provides welcome shelter whatever the weather and we lay on free teas and coffees all weekend. There is also the cost of hiring tables and chairs. If you stay for either the Friday or Saturday evening there is a free meal, again provided by the club, although you do have to bring your own meat for the Saturday BBQ. We hire three large gas BBQs and they are available all weekend for members to use.

During the day on Saturday and Sunday there will be an opportunity to take part in some 'driving tests' on a part of the rally field, timed against the clock and very popular on previous occasions.

On Friday, after the evening meal, we will be holding a light-hearted quiz and on Saturday evening two of our members will be providing musical entertainment - great fun.

As you can see from the above the club have to heavily subsidise the weekend but the event is there for the benefit of all members and 'the more the merrier'.
If you can attend any part of the weekend you will be made most welcome and I hope that we can look forward to seeing you at Stratford.

Re: NG Annual Rally 2014 - 4 to 6th July

Great national rally, many thanks to the organizers. The food was absolutely superb and a big big thank you to the ladies that provided such a wonderful spread.

Some very nice cars at the rally but it would be nice to get a few more attending. I guess with the Silverstone Grand Prix, Wimbledon, the Tour de France in Yorkshire, Cornberry music festival and prime wedding season there was lots to entertain people elsewhere this weekend. It would be nice to get some of the automotive jewelry driveway queens out on the road to next years rally though...!!.

Regards

Paul
