I also fitted these, I managed it without using the kit (shortened distance pieces & studs) supplied by Findhorn ,although I did buy it. I had to trim the element retaining mesh down by about 1/8" in width and the foam on the filter nearest the front of the engine. Carbs still breath ok according to tuning specialist. CO & Hydrocarbons etc at correct levels at all RPM's...so no air starvation. Also saved the bother of modifying the heatshield.

I have also heard that longer fuel/air mixture path = more torque. Don't know if that's correct or not.
