I'm a recent fan of your website, but a long-time fan
of your online radio interviews (I've listened to most
of them).
Anyway, I was reading the "Occurrence at Owl Creek
Bridge" on your site, which I found a very good story,
when I saw the picture of Ambrose Bierce with the
skull. This in combination with my brief recollection
to some old documentary of skull and bones, lead me to
do a brief Google.
I'm not sure if you are aware, or maybe you are a
member of Bohemian Grove yourself, but their logo is
also an owl (like in the title: Occurrence at Owl
Creek Bridge (photo is attached), and they also chant
to a giant stone owl at the grove (photo attached).
I read on your site, or maybe it was somewhere else
(maybe I herd it on one of your interviews), but
someone stated, I believe, that he (Bierce) was one of
the founding members of Bohemian Grove (i.e., Bohemian
Club).
It just interests me, his relationship with the owl
and the skull, which both seem to be symbols of secret
societies.
I looked on the internet, but did not find any
information on what the owl means in relation to
Bierce and I thought that maybe you would know.
I understand what the skull means, at least I think I
do, as in skull and bones (order of the death head),
which I believe is symbolic of the ever present
premise of death that surrounds us all (thus we are to
live each day to our fullest, etc).
I am not sure though, if this is what the skull means
in relation to Bierce.
The reason I ask, is because of the parallel that I
found in: "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", which is,
as you are well aware, about death itself. I was just
wondering, if the "Owl" in the title (and Bohemian
Grove Owl) and the skull have any relation to each
other - I don't know, but I herd that the owl is the
symbol of the Illuminati, and the skull (as in skull
and bones is), so I've read, is the 322nd lodge of the
Illuminati.
Anyway, I don't know much about these things, so I
thought I should ask you, as you know a lot about
Bierce.
I have searched, but I have turned up nothing (in
relation to secret societies; regarding the meaning of
the owl).
Besides that, in my brief research, I came across more
owl symbolism, and some of the photos I found quite
amazing (especially the one of the white house shaped
like an owl: I never knew the US history was so tied
to the owl). I just thought I'd share them with you
also, since I thought you might be interested (They
are attached).
