All your life you have been silenced
Trapped by fear and trapped by violence
Purple bruises on your skin
Shows the struggles you could not win
All the scars you have to hide
Represent all your secrets inside
Those who hurt you hurt you bad
They took away everything you ever had
People will wonder why you never told
But that is the power these monsters hold
One click of their finger and you won’t make a sound
Because one raised fist makes you cower to the ground
Like a victim you hide in shame
Thinking you are the one to blame
Night after night you cut so deep
Wishing you could have an eternal sleep
No one seems to listen, no one seems to care
And when you cry for help no one’s ever there

But what if I told you that you are not alone
That someone could be waiting at the end of a phone
People to give you a help in hand
People who are able to understand
Maybe its time to leave your past behind
And make your future a brighter one to find
Making the change may be hard to do
But look how much you’ve already been through
So stand up tall and scream out loud
End the silence and inside feel proud
They have abused you for so many years
But you can hold the power over their fears
You can no longer be torn apart
You no longer will have a broken heart
You are a survivor, you can be free today

So true....there are unfortunately so many that have suffered and will relate to this poem - i know i certainly do....but with people like you - we can all have the courage to stand up, be counted, and survive!
