Bridlington 2009

Just an early heads up for Easter 2009 and the trip south to Breezy Brid, good hockey, good fun & a good time, get in early and join the 2009 Team....

I can confirm there will be a report but the content is covered by the traditional ethos that what happens on tour, stays on tour, an ethos that even the Freedom of Information Act cannot break.

For a flavour the following highlights the start of previous trips: -

The Clans (2006) - Due to two intrepid travellers deciding to set off at the ‘crack of dawn’ in 2005, so in 2006, most of The Clans set off at dawn, yes between 0530 & 0700hrs a possession of Celtic Warriors, sallied forth for Hallowed Ground.

Team Dave (2007) - Once again a decision was taken by a number of Brid Veterans to maintain the now regular Dawn Patrol and set off before the milk boys had delivered their daily load. Only to save several vehicles manned by the odd two or three, Granddad Dave managed to obtain an 8-seatermobile and set off at 0600 hours, touring the City picking up fellow Time Lords before hitting the road to Hallowed Ground.

Team Spudulike (2008) - Only one vehicle & occupants took the decision to undertake the Dawn Patrol for the Mecca of Easter Hockey – Bridlington, yes those intrepid tatties Waffle, Fritters & Wedges leaving at 0600 hours from the Kingdom.

Other Spuddies left at a more sensible time, the Mash Family in the Mashmobile, Sauté Sovs, Chips & King Spud in the Friedmobile. Half Baked would travel the next day by train, whilst as it happens, Roasted, Boiled & Welsh Tattie were already south of the border on a family commitment, so were only travelling a shorter distance in the Russakmobile.

Brid 09

News from my source tells me that the ladies have 8 confirmed and 2 unsure. So you guys that want to go need to tell Rod asap or you risk having to sleep on the beach.

Intelligence recieved from the weekend, leads me to believe that the clubs centenary celebrations maybe involed with the tour.

More updates soon.

Re: Bridlington 2009

Much talk of Brid 09 surely the Ladies Can sort there own accomodation at Panda Central . Besides i hear Gollys Mum has allready made a reservation!!

I propose Brid Vetrans should have first shout on the bed space at the Brentwood House !

And fancy Dress for the centenary theme ??? Santa Bills in respect for the Ruzak who began it all ????????

ps belles gonna getya !

Re: Bridlington 2009

Great to see real interest already for Brid 2009, both from the guys and girls aspect.

On the playing front why not decide on a different name like Fife Centurians for obvious reasons, no need to dress as Romans, but 'special' playing tops or the likes..

Other ideas welcome.....

Re: Bridlington 2009

As a precaution to possible overload at the Brentwood, early contact has identified a friend of Pete & Denise who has a Guest House and if required, could take any residue.

Brid Vets taking first option at the Brentwood of course.....

Re: Bridlington 2009

The latest intelligence from Rod is that the Ladies have booked 8 bedspaces and the Guys have only booked 3. He tells me that this is quite worrying as he has not heard from the so called veterans yet and there maybe more Ladies wanting to go.

He has asked me to put this up on the site , with the aim to get the Guys arses into gear. Otherwise they may not get a space at the Brentwood .

More info to come once I've seen Rod

Re: Bridlington 2009

Ace Reporter and erstwhile Brid Vet is a definite for Brid 2009, hence the posts... A back-up plan in place should numbers increase significantly, agree though, we need to confirm who is attending by early to mid-January methinks

Re: Bridlington 2009

To All intending to visit the Mecca of Easter Hockey, it seems that the National Pool Championships are also taking place at Easter 2009, so accommodation will be tight, we have secured Brentwood, but possible more numbers this year, so deposits required ASAP to commit to trip...

Re: Bridlington 2009

The latest news from Rod is that the Brentwood have been in contact and are requesting the deposits, by the begining of Feb. Also as Ace Reporter has already posted, the UK pool champs are on the same weekend at Brid. The hotel have had several enquiries for that weekend and so far have turned them all down.

Rod is asking all those who want to go, to get in contact asap. The usual £20 deposit must be paid before the end of Jan. When you get in touch with him, let him know what you want (BB,BBEM,how many days stay, food requirements).

Not long to go now, so stock up on your factor 30 sun cream.

Re: Bridlington 2009

Just to add to previous updates, now I'm back home, have spoken to a pool player I know and attending the event at Brid, it is in fact the World Pool Championships, which start on 2nd April and conclude over our hockey weekend...

Will be discussing with son & heir our Brid arrangements, due to couple of little hiccups, but deposits will be enroute at weekend to Rod..

Re: Bridlington 2009

Have just got the latest info from Rod and he tells me that 20 spaces have been allocated and another 1 possible still to confirm. But only 3 deposits have been paid If anyone wants to sample the many delights of Brid they had better hurry up and let Rod know. It's only 9 weeks till Easter

More info as and when I get it from Rod

Re: Bridlington 2009

A large number of World Pool players still seeking accommodation in Brid, I know our hosts at Brentwood getting numerous requests, so very important to pay your deposit so that our needs are confirmed....

Only 59 days until the trek south commences, I have some plans for playing shirts and/or polo shirts, watch this space for costs...

Re: Bridlington 2009

Latest numbers for Brid, 8 x ladies, 9 x gents & one supporter...

On the gents side not a lot of flexibility with rolling subs methinks

Re: Bridlington 2009

Using the formula from a Kiddies book, 'Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants' by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names...
The Gents playing squad for Brid, even the first ones bring a smile, would be: -

Charlie - Snickle Featherchunks
Mini - Sloopy featherchunks
Rod - Cheesey Chucklejuice
Bill - Boobie Chucklejuice
Chef - Zippy Pottyshorts (used Fraz)
Brent - Dorfus feathertush
Spud - Snooty Farklehumperdinck or Dipsy Farklehumperdinck (Using Spud & Ross)
Kev - Sneezy Feathertush

Working on the ladies.......

Re: Bridlington 2009

Weather forecast for this week up to and including day of arrival: -

Tuesday - Rain
Wednesday - Heavy Rain
Thursday - Light Rain

I wait with baited wotsit for the weekend forecast..

Re: Bridlington 2009

Latest update for Monday 06 April 2009 to Sunday 12 April 2009

"More unsettled."

A change to generally unsettled weather looks increasingly likely with spells of rain for many parts.
The south is likely to see the driest weather, with clear or sunny spells appearing between bands of rain.
It will be windy at times with a risk of gales, particularly in the north and west.

Temperatures are likely to be around average for early April though there will still be a low risk of overnight frost and also some snow on the Scottish mountains
