Video: London girl lives out pop star dream with help from Avril Lavigne
By Angela Mullins

A special 13-year-old London, Ontario girl has one very big plan for the future: She wants to be a pop star.

Now, she’s living the dream, so to speak, thanks to Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario, Sony Music Canada, Avril Lavigne and a host of others.

Autumn, diagnosed with connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, went to Toronto earlier this month to sign on as an “official” Sony artist and record a cover of Lavigne’s “Keep Holding On,” a song close to the teen’s heart.

While she was there, Autumn got the full pop star treatment, which included being driven around in a limo and a full-on celebrity photo shoot.

To add icing to that cake, the 13-year-old was back in Toronto on Monday night for a surprise launch of her recording — complete with paparazzi, a video message from Lavigne herself and, of course, plenty of friends and family.

Autumn’s reaction?

“Her jaw was dropped for most of the party,” said Make-A-Wish grand coordinator Misha Medeiros. “She was so appreciative, and so grateful for everyone being there.”

Autumn’s wish marks the 1,100th granted by Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario. The non-profit plans to grant 70 this year alone in the region.

Sony gave Autumn and her family a platinum version of her recording during the launch party.
