Which sentence is correct?

It was the worst day (of) my life

OR

It was the worst day (in) my life.

You could use either really. I would opt for - it was the worst day of my life.

Should you wish to expand the sentence to - it was the worst day I had experienced in my whole life - for instance, then 'in' is your only option.
