The period inside the bracket is correct in the first case.
In the second example, I wouldn't use brackets. If you really want to, the period would go outside the bracket.
Can you tell me the use of three periods inside of this kind of Bracket?

I see it every now and then. At the end of a sentence AFTER the period.
I also see particular of what I can only describe as an "interjection" type of word within these brackets.
EX:
The editor submitted his article back to him and told him that there were certain words he should not use [ORWELL!]- which perplexed him more because of the inane boring subject matter being discussed in the article.
I don't know if I used it (grammar or brackets) correctly.
Is there a difference between these "()" and these "[]" kinds of brackets?
