I heard this sentence the other day and it just sounded wrong. I am not a grammar expert, so I am hoping you can tell whether or not it is correct or propper.
"It depends on where you start from."
Is it ok to have the word "from" in that sentence?
I think the sentence is okay with the word from, but it's not necessary. I prefer it without the from. Some do not like to end sentences in prepositions, but I don't think it's a serious writing crime. The best version is: It depends where you start.
