Is this sentence correct?

I heard this sentence the other day and it just sounded wrong. I am not a grammar expert, so I am hoping you can tell whether or not it is correct or propper.

"It depends on where you start from."

Is it ok to have the word "from" in that sentence?

Thank you.

Re: Is this sentence correct?

This is a good question.

I think the sentence is okay with the word from, but it's not necessary. I prefer it without the from. Some do not like to end sentences in prepositions, but I don't think it's a serious writing crime. The best version is: It depends where you start.
