correct wording?

I'm writing a devotion and am having trouble with this sentence: "Although it’s not easy, we must do all we can to repair the damage we’ve done…making necessary amends with those people we’ve hurt."
The part I'm not sure of is the "amends with" part. Does that sound right? Or should it be "amends to"? Or something else?
Thanks!

Re: correct wording?

Try this:

Although it’s not easy, we must do all we can to repair the damage we’ve done to make amends with those people we’ve hurt.
