“Myself” is used with “I” to emphasize your own role in the sentence.
- I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversation.
- I do not take a single newspaper, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it.
People use myself to avoid using I and me.
The insults were aimed at the doctor and I. [wrong]
The insults were aimed at the doctor and me. [correct, but sounds wrong]
The insults were aimed at the doctor and myself. [wrong, but sounds better than all other options (to some)]
