punctuation of company name

Our company name is URS (it stands for United Research Services) although the full title is never used.

If we want to say URS's team was commissioned to ....

do we say URS' team was commissioned to...

hope you can help.

Re: punctuation of company name

Mmm, a very good question.

I would use URS's team.

It is far more intuitive. Even though the S stands for Services, which is plural, I would still advise using URS's.

If people called you by your full name, I'd be happier with URS', but even then it feels a bit awkward.

Go for URS's team. Here's the real point though:

Do whatever you like, but be consistent.

Re: punctuation of company name

Thanks for your help, GM, glad you agree. although company bosses don't. i've since found out our full name is URS, but despite that, we've to use URS'. Which makes it definitely wrong if our name is URS.

Thanks again.

Karen.
