Someone vs anyone in asking a question

When to use someone and anyone in a question?

Can someone help me?

Can anyone help me?

Re: Someone vs anyone in asking a question

You might not care, but 'someone' and 'anyone' are indefinite pronouns.

Someone is a little more specific than anyone.

Someone = an unknown or unspecified person

Anyone = any person

There is often overlap between the two ideas so I wouldn't beat myself up over this if I were you.
