Is the word vocative derived from or related to vocation in any way, or simply a form of the word vocal?

It's from the Latin "vocativus (casus)" meaning the "case of) calling". It's easy to see how this is related to "vocalis" meaning speaking or sounding. So, I'd go for vocal over vocational.
