The grammar world hasn't really sorted itself on this one yet. You can use both. In other words, you can say "any of them is" or "any of them are". The latter is far far more common.
In short, you can't get it wrong. Any is both singular and plural. If your sense is strongly "any [one] of them is", you could go singular, otherwise go plural if I were you.
