I read this sentence in a book .
The giant said, " I is the BFG . what is your name ?"
why he said " I is " not "I am " . is the sentence correct or not .

It's wrong. It should be "I am.."

I think it's meant to be funny...or a quirk of the way the BFG talks. The author did it deliberately. You can be sure of that.
