double negative

Is "nothing he failed to do would have changed that" a double negative? if so what can we take it to mean? Do these two negatives resolve to a positive? Thanks T Mac

Re: double negative

This is not really a double negative.

The key message is this: Nothing would have changed that.

The words describing "Nothing" could be anything. For example:

Nothing from the list would have changed that.
Nothing recommended by the guru would have changed that.
Nothing he could have done would have changed that.
Nothing he failed to do would have changed that.

I hope that makes sense.
