Use of have and had in a sentence.

What is the grammatical rule for using have and had in a sentence together?
I would be extremely grateful to that person who helped me. God bless you.

Re: Use of have and had in a sentence.

That is a hard question.

The easy bit:

Have means to own something now. I have a car.

Had means to have owned something in the past. I had a car.

The hard bit:

Have and had are also used to form verb tenses. Good luck with those!
