Who are or who is?

Hi we are about to launch a new website for our new business. We can't agree on whether it should say "Who is EWC?" or "Who are EWC?" - EWC being the company name - help please.

If it helps as in the context it is being used in ......

Who is/are EWC?

EWC are/is a new friendly company, we are

My brain is saying EWC is a single company so it should be "IS", but something is nagging at me that as the company is a "we" then it should be who are (I hope that makes sense)???

Re: Who are or who is?

Collective nouns (and that's what a company name is) can be singular or plural. As it looks like you're going to use "we" or "our" to describe what you do, you should treat it as plural.

We are experts at blah blah...
Our mantra is blah blah...

If you treat it as singular, you will be stuck with:

It is full of experts at blah blah...
Its mantra is blah blah...

or

Its staff are...

Whatever you choose, you ought to stick with that throughout.

Here's more on collective nouns being singular or plural.
