How do you know the difference between the words "Whoever" and "Whomever?" And when are you supposed to use them in a sentence?
Whoever is the subjective case. Whomever is the objective case. Really, it's just like who and whom. Whoever will ask the question? I will ask whomever.
So glad I came across this website, I've been learning so much.
OK, here is an ambiguous one: "Peter and I will meet up with whoever else is available." Or should that be "with whomever" as it is not the subject of "will meet up"? But "whoever" is the subject of "is available", so "whoever" is right, correct? Martin.
