Early vs Earlier

Good day, I am confused which to be used for the below sentence:

The meeting completed 5 minutes early.
The meeting completed 5 minutes earlier.

Two sentences sound fine for me, but I am not sure whether it refers to same meaning. I am trying to say, the meeting is end five minutes before the scheduled time.

The meeting ended five minutes early.
The meeting ended five minutes earlier than scheduled.
