Subject or complement?

What is your favorite book?
In this sentence, Is Wh-pronoun"what" subject or complement?

When we make this question sentence based on
My favorite book is "Anne of Green Gables".
Wh-pronoun"what" stands for "Anne of Green Gables", complement of the sentence. So can I say that this "what" is complement of the question? Or is it subject of Wh-question?

Re: Subject or complement?

You'll hate me for this but…when 'what', and 'who', 'which' and 'whose' are used as an interrogative (=asking a question) determiner, it is a subject complement!

The subject proper follows the linking verb, and in your sentence, the linking verb is 'to be', and the subject is 'your favourite book'.
