sort or sorts

would it be correct to say that i wont tolerate any sort of nonsense? will it be sort or sorts of nonsense? please help guys. shall be grateful

Re: sort or sorts

There may be ' all sorts of nonsense ' that people can get up to, but your sentence is saying…

Of all the sorts of nonsense, I won't tolerate ANY sort (= not one sort) .

compare
There is nonsense A, nonsense B, ….nonsense Z.

I will tolerate nonsense P and nonsense W, and only those two SORTS of nonsense.

Re: sort or sorts

"Any" is a determiner or an adjective of quantity often signifying singularity. Often, —though, not in all situations —it precedes singular nouns.

Re: sort or sorts

thank you

Re: sort or sorts

so since any is singular it would be any sort of nonsense! got it
