The first sentence is odd( =strange, different to what is usual or expected). The person is describing what he is doing as he is doing it. On TV, we hear a chef on a cooking program say, " I'm now going to add the garlic I chopped earlier to the butter and…"
A person might say to his partner, in bed with him, that rather than talk anymore
2-"I am going to sleep now."
