What would you call these phrases?

- 'Seeing the dog,' he took to his heels.

- 'Texting on his phone,' he swerved into a ditch.
Someone consider the words [texting on his phone] [seeing the dog] as an 'adverbial phrase of cause' which I don't agree with that - I think only those phrases are not functioning as an 'adverbial phrase of cause'
Again, would you call 'texting' and 'seeing' as gerunds or participles?

- I found trouble "in exporting or all my vocabulary." - what name would you give to this phrase and why?

- The guy walking on the street is a student.
Do you regard "walking" as a gerund or participle?

Thanks
