The passed/past "inquiry"

Dear smart people of Grammar-Monster,

I have an important question that is in dire need of a response and I was hoping you can help.
Should the word passed or past be used in the following sentence:

You are far passed/past the line.

"Passed" makes sense because when referring back to the lion-zebra example used on this site, passed in this context means to move past and therefore passed appears to be correct.
However, "past" could be the correct word instead (maybe/possibly/potentially). Again referring back to this website, 'past' was indicative of a movement from one point of reference to another. Thus, past appears to be correct instead.

I would be truly grateful for any/all input and await your replies.

Thanks!

Re: The passed/past "inquiry"

In the below instance, since you are referring to a distance and an event that has already taken place use past.

You can use; He is past the line or similarly, can use he has passed the line.

Hope this helps, clarify your point.

Peter

Re: The passed/past \\\"inquiry\\\"

Peter you pleb, you made mistakes with your grammar. Even though I agree with "past" being used in the above sentence, you've lost credibility and have thus given Meera a reason to void your comment. So close! :(
