Gerund vs Infinitive

Hello to grammar experts, or Grammar-team

Okay, I was studying grammar, and I am very curious if the following sentences have the SAME meaning?

1) I hate camping. (Camping:being used as gerund. Therefore, it is a noun. Camping is an object of the sentence, which is receiving the action or abstract action of "hate".)

2) I hate to camp. (In this case, is "to camp" a infinitive?. It seems like "to camp" is modifying "hate", almost used as adverb to describe "hate")

Does two sentences mean "excately" the same?

Thank you in advance!!
