Ok, is there a wrong way to use a participle phrase, like the example below:

"I have spent most of my days putting in a comma and the rest if the day taking it out.

Are the two participle phrases - putting in a comma and taking it out- being used wrong?

Should it say, "I have spent most of the day, putting in a comma, and the rest of the day, taking it out"?
