My answer is wrong or what?

I took an Apostrophe test today and this question shows up:

Q5: Select the answer which means:

Anita and Fred each own a car

A. Anita's and Fred's cars (My answer, which is wrong)
B. Anita and Fred's cars (The right answer)
C. Anita and Fred's car

Why is my answer wrong? Didn't my answer means that Anita has a car and so does Fred, if B is the right answer, doesn't that mean Anita and Fred share each other's car?

Hi

A. means that Anita and Fred each own more than one car (i.e. Anita's cars and Fred's cars).
B. means that Anita and Fred each own a car (i.e. they share one car).
C. means that Anita and Fred own just one car between them (i.e. they share one car).

So B) is the correct answer.

Re: My answer is wrong or what?

I think the question is bad. I'll change it. The question alludes to individual ownership not joint ownership. If each of them owns one car, then A (Anita's and Fred's cars) is correct. If they jointly own more than one car, then B is correct.

I agree with you. A is correct. I'll fix it.
