Which is correct for the heading of a flyer?
The camp will host more than one girl.
thank you!
Girls' Basketball Camp is correct. Plural girls means more than one girl, and the possessive apostrophe on the end indicates that something 'belongs' to the girls, in this case the basketball camp.
I think "Girl’s Basketball Camp" is reporting a GENDER (singular) not the NUMBER (plural) of girls.
So the correct format should be “Girl’s Basketball Camp” and “Boy’s Basketball Camp”.
Just like “women’s basketball” and “men’s basketball” are used to label the sports. It is about GENDER. i.e. the camp or sport belongs to ONE gender. Therefore singular.
anybody confirm this, please? I don't think it matches this rule:
or maybe it does:
1 GENDER of campers & 1 camp - Girl's Summer Camp
1 GENDER of campers & 2 camps - Girl's Summer Sports Camps
There are not more than one gender of girls, so these are only options.
what about "Kid's Summer Sports Camp" ? The camp belongs to a class of people made up of kids, so it is referring to the class (singular), so it's "Kid's camp" ?
could you look at the new thought posted, Paul?? what if "Girl's Basketball Camp" is a camp that belongs to one gender, so it is singular possessive? (is singular possessive even a thing?) thanks!!
Re: Girl's Basketball Camp vs. Girls' Basketball Camp

Gender is irrelevant. It all depends on the plurality of the possessor noun:
(One) girl's basketball camp(s).
(Two) girls' basketball camp(s)
or maybe it does:
1 GENDER of campers & 1 camp - Girl's Summer Camp
1 GENDER of campers & 2 camps - Girl's Summer Sports Camps
There are not more than one gender of girls, so these are only options.
No, gender doesn't enter into it, see above.

what about "Kid's Summer Sports Camp" ? The camp belongs to a class of people made up of kids, so it is referring to the class (singular), so it's "Kid's camp" ?
Again, it all depends on the plurality of the possessor noun:

Hi june,
Please be sure that in these cases "Girls" is showing gender as well as number.
The basketball camp doesn't belong to one girl.
More examples:
Girls' college.
Students' union.
(In both the cases girls and students are used in plural cases and because of "s" in the last we need not add one more for possession.
Your example:
Women's wear : here "women" indicates the number and 's the possession.
Ohhhhh...... Paul is correct try to understand what he said.
