How to Recognize Subject complement?

I have a problem with recognizing subject complement in sentences can you help me?

Re: How to Recognize Subject complement?

The subject complement has the following formal features. It:
- is found with copular verb only. (copular verb such as feel, look, prove, remain, resemble, sound, stay, become, grow, turn, smell, test or "be" when it is a lexical verb).
- is realized by a noun phrase or an adjective phrase, but may also be a finite or non- finite nominal clause or even a prepositional phrase.
- is in the nominative or accusative case of pronouns.
- typically follows immediately after the verb phrase.
Example:( Each Subject complement is in the bracket)
1. Kevin is (my brother).Sidney is now (the Dean).
2. His skin was (very pink) and felt (warm to touch).
3. What I don't understand is (why they don't let me know anything).
4. My assumption is (that interest rates will soon fall).
5. Her first job had been (selling computers)
6. My goal now is (to look to the future).
7. I don't feel (in a mood for fireworks).
Function: it identifies or characterizes the referent of Subject.
