Use of 'on' instead of 'for' for Institute titles

Hi all,

Our research institute is changing it's name to 'Rockefeller Institute on Aging', citing other American organisations have done the same, e.g. 'National Institute on Aging', 'Institute on Culture, Religion & World Affairs' and 'Institute on Governance' to name a few.

Is this correct?

I would have thought 'Rockefeller Institute for Aging' or 'Rockefeller Institute for Age Research' to be more correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's gnawing at me.

Cheers,

Tom
