For years it has really annoyed me every time I hear people, supposedly intelligent, describe temperatures as hot or cold or warm or cool, instead of high or low. Just think of all our TV weather forecasters and newsreaders. Surely our weather is hot because our temperatures are high and cold because the temperatures are low. Temperature is a scale of heat and should be described as high or low.
