price vs pricing

I am confused with the difference between word (noun) of price and pricing.

A) price (noun), can be verb, count noun or non-count noun.

B) pricing (noun), is non-count noun.

So is it same meaning and grammatically correct on following sentences?

1) It is the basis for pricing (non-count noun).

2) It is the basis for price (non-count noun).

Please, provide advice and enlightenment on this topic, it is frustrating me that why two same type of nouns with same meaning are in two different word forms!!!

Re: price vs pricing

If it's word meanings you want, then I suggest you look the words up in a dictionary.
