Error in a sentence



He passed/completed a course in/on computer fundamentals.

In the above sentence there are two alternatives. Could you please tell me which ones are correct among them?

First, the verbs: to complete a course is not necessarily to pass it. Second, "in" and "on" are both okay, though "in" is more common in both AmE and BrE.
