Using "as well" at the end of a sentence

I was taught not to end a sentence with a proposition. I hear people frequently using "as well" at the end of a sentence. I could have used "frequently" at the end of the last sentence but that also would be using bad grammar. So, people should be corrected to use the word "also" or "too" in place of the phrase "as well" (but also not at the end of a sentence). For instance, "I also own a car" but not "I own a car too" or "I own a car also". Maybe "as well" is used regionally. I lived in Arizona for 33 years and I don't recall hearing "as well" used at the end of a sentence. Now I hear it used many times in television shows and especially on local news programs in Ohio. So, should I just accept it or should we start teaching people proper grammar? I know I'm not perfect, but hearing "as well" used at the end of a sentence seems like lazy grammar as much as bad grammar.

Re: Using "as well" at the end of a sentence

I empathize with you, but think grammar and clarity of meaning is a lost cause in the USA.

He turned off of the road.
By some stroke of miracle,…
He was a cold, calculated man.
