about "a few"

I wonder whether the following are equal in number:

a few students
several students
a number of students
some students
a small number of students

Thanks for responding to my question!

Re: about "a few"

Yes, they are generally interchangeable, and have a similar meaning.

They all mean an imprecise quantity of students, typically a fairly small quantity - less than 50% - of some set of students. But exactly where on some scale of "zero – 50%" is impossible to say.

Sorry I can't be more precise.
