Can a direct object and an indirect object be used in the same phrase?

Can a direct object and an indirect object be used in the same phrase?

Re: Can a direct object and an indirect object be used in the same phrase?

No, they form separate noun phrases:

Ed gave Kim a cake"

In this example, the indirect object "Kim" and the direct object "a cake" are separate noun phrases.
