Which preposition is best to use in this situation, to or for?

Which sentence would be more appropriate when talking about your father.
My father is everything to me, and he will always remain my role model.
or My father is everything for me, and he will always remain my role model.

Re: Which preposition is best to use in this situation, to or for?

My father is everything to me, and he will always remain my role model.

I take this because I could write:
My father is my role model.
My father serves for a role model.

Given the two statements, I believe "is" works best.

Consider,
My father is everything to me; he remains my role model eternally.
