My grandson (24y) always uses "may" in sentences like "may you watch my dog". I understand may is asking for permission. But in this sense?????? I think it should be" will you watch my dog ?"
who is right???

You are right; "may" is quite wrong in such sentences.

For directives in the form of requests you can say "will", or the more polite "would".
