grammar checkers

In general, how accurate do you all feel grammar-check programs are? Our boss has his knickers in a twist about passive voice. I write naturally in active voice, but when I check my writing through the GC with Word97 (don't ask), I can't seem to identify what it says are passive voice instances--and I've had it mark correct sentences for incorrect grammar. Opinions, folks? Thanks.

Re: grammar checkers

Yeah, let's hear it for passive voice. I don't think it's such a bad thing. It's certainly not an error. I don't know why grammar checkers get so uptight about it. Stylistically, it often makes sense. As for grammar checkers, they're pants. There is a section on them here, which may be of some interest.
