I don't understand the explanation to question 1 in the plurals test. Q1: "She struggled up 11 storys just to tell her holiday stories" Explanation: "A noun that ends 'ey' has the plural ending 'eys'; whereas, one that ends '[constant]' has the plural ending 'ies'. Would someone please enlighten me. Many thanks
Gordon, there was a typo in your email with 'storys' which may be confusing you. The correct version is: She struggled up 11 storeys just to tell her holiday stories. The rule is: A noun that ends "ey" has the plural ending "eys"; whereas, one that ends "[consonant] y" has the plural ending "ies". Therefore: storey (noun ending 'ey') > stories and story (noun ending '[consonant]y') > stories. I hope that's a little clearer.
Oh no, I'm doing it now. Obviously, that should have been: Therefore: storey (noun ending 'ey') > storeys and story (noun ending '[consonant]y') > stories.

Thanks very much. It's much easier when I read the sentence correctly! Now I understand the rule.
